In the past, surgeries—and therefore anesthesia—have been performed in hospitals. Advances in medicine and surgical technique since the 1970s have allowed many different kinds of procedures to be performed in freestanding ambulatory surgical centers, on an outpatient basis. This created a demand for office-based anesthesia services.
The goal of office-based anesthesia is to provide patients with the safety and comfort of an operating room in an office-based environment.
In 2012, AAKC founded the MAC (Mobile Anesthesiology Care) Team. The MAC Team is presently averaging more than 2,000 anesthetics for adult and pediatric surgeries/procedures a year. Our team provides services to dentists, oral surgeons, surgeons, psychiatrists, pharmaceutical research companies and other entities.
